I had the privilege this past Friday and Saturday of teaching in two churches in Arkansas. Friday night, I taught a childhood conversion seminar in The Bible Church of Cabot. It was a privilege to see again one of their elders, Jim Erhard. I like Jim not only because he is an Ohio State Buckeyes fan, but because he is passionate about a Biblical ministry and couples that with a genuine love for the people God has entrusted to his care.
Then on Saturday morning, I taught the children’s Sunday School teachers at First Baptist Church of Newport, Arkansas. Alan Rogers is the children’s pastor, and I only recently met him but we are already life-long friends. He is the real deal–A true man of God who is serving faithfully “in the middle of nowhere.” He is also a very funny guy–On the way to the conference, I was laughing so hard I was crying hearing him tell about problems he has had with kidney stones and his sinuses (this is public knowledge, by the way).
Thank you for praying!
Thank you for praying about the opportunity I had this past Wednesday at Park to represent Christ Fellowship of Kansas City. I potentially made one solid contact with a young man who desires a Bible study on campus and said he has numerous friends whom he knows will participate. Pray that I would have discernment about furthering this relationship because he may be part of a solid church elsewhere and I don’t want to infringe upon that ministry.
In other campus ministry news, Patty and I officially became part of a ministry at Park called “Friendship Partners,” which is a ministry on college campuses that connects international students with church families. A few families in our church are involved. You can read about it at www.isikansascity.org, but basically we will spend at least one day a month with an international student (or students) and connect with the student(s) at least once a week via e-mail or telephone. The idea is to “be a friend”–have them in your home, take them on a family activity, help them learn about our culture, learn about their culture, etc. Also, the desire is that there will be open doors for telling these students about Christ. I just got a phone call today about our potential “friends,” and should have more information soon.

CCW - Seminar/Preaching 1 Comment
The Lord was pleased to bless the seminar and preaching at Northwest Bible Church in Oklahoma City this past weekend. The seminar was Saturday morning, 9-12, and I preached at the Sunday morning service. One additional blessing was, along with Luke Woodward, getting to share my personal testimony in their adult Sunday School class. Below are a few pictures, with descriptions.
