My bulletin insert series on Vacation Bible School has come to a completion, I think.  My latest insert is titled, “Now that Vacation Bible School is Over,” and you can read it at the following address: http://www.bulletininserts.org/txtfiles/vbsover.pdf

For an interesting dinner conversation, check out the insert Daryl Wingerd wrote, “Is it OK for Christians to Cuss?”: http://www.bulletininserts.org/txtfiles/cuss.pdf

Finally, consider the wonderful providence of God, along with a little romance, and read Susan Verstraete’s bulletin insert titled, “The Mysterious Ways of God in the Life of Emily Chubbuck”: http://www.bulletininserts.org/txtfiles/emilyj.pdf

The Lord willing, I will be teaching a “Childhood Conversion: How Children Come to Faith in Christ” seminar at The Bible Church of Cabot in Arkansas on Friday evening, August 24, and then teaching the majority of the content of the seminar at a Sunday School teachers gathering for First Baptist Church of Newport, Arkansas, on Saturday morning, August 25.  FYI: The pastor of the church in Cabot, Jim Erhard, is a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan.  It nearly goes without saying that he is a great guy.

Reflecting back on several years around Ohio University, I remembered that most colleges have a “meet and greet” day early in the school year.  At events like these, local churches and organizations are allowed to have a “booth” and pass out information.  I have visited the student activities office at Park U. a couple of times checking into this sort of event, and today I was able to speak with several very nice individuals who were very happy for me to come, on behalf of Christ Fellowship (CF), and set up a booth at their activities fair on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m.

My goal at this event will be to meet some students and hopefully pass out some resources from Christian Communicators Worldwide (CCW).  I would ask that you would pray for the Lord to provide at least one solid connection with a young man who is a true believer (who will benefit from CF, and potentially provide a network to other believers), and one solid connection with a young man who is seeking truth (whom I might be able to meet with to teach the Gospel, who as well might benefit from CF, and who could potentially provide a network to other seekers).  Pray also that those resources that are passed out would be read by those who take them.

I was just notified that the airplane tickets have been purchased for me, along with Luke Woodward (a member of Christ Fellowship whose house we use for the home congregation I lead), to travel on August 3-5 to Northwest Bible Church in Oklahoma City.  I will be teaching a “Childhood Conversion: How Children Come to Faith in Christ” seminar on Saturday morning, and then preaching on Sunday morning.

Dear Readers:

I have established this site for at least two reasons:

1)  To update those who support my ministry, that they might hear and see what God is doing, and subsequently pray more appropriately.  Patty and I have many faithful people who pray for us and give financially to us, and we hope this site will be a place they visit often to see what the Lord is doing in our lives and ministry.  As we minister in our church, Christ Fellowship of Kansas City (www.christfellowshipkc.org), we hope to inform our support team through words and pictures.  As the Lord opens up opportunities for me to travel on behalf of Christian Communicators Worldwide (www.ccwonline.org), I hope to announce and then summarize each trip and provide pictures when possible.  Finally, in God’s goodness, I have begun to write a bit, and I hope to keep our friends updated in this area of my life.

2)  To provide necessary information to those who might invite me to teach or preach.  I will put information on this site specifically designed to aid those who might desire to have me come and minister to them.

The name of this site is derived from the church in which I share leadership responsibility, Christ Fellowship of Kansas City, and the ministry in which I serve, Christian Communicators Worldwide.  Thus, I took “Christ” out of the former, and “Communicators” out of the latter (making it singular), and came up with a summary description of my ministry and name for this site.  As the Apostle Paul said in First Corinthians 2:2, “For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.”

I’d be grateful and humbled if you would pray for the Burchett’s.

For Christ’s Glory,
Steve
